Our priority is the safety of your participants and instructors. Due to the recent events of the Covid-19 virus, our organization has had to adjust its practices to fit into a world affected by a pandemic. We have to provide an environment that is safe for our participants, staff and other parties that we cooperate with. We have made these necessary adjustments with the utmost care for health and safety. These adjustments are based on the recommendations from Swedens health authority Folkhälsomyndigheten. www.folkhalsomyndigheten.se. These conditions may be subject to change, sometimes at the last minute. Our operation will continue to change along with the updates and recommendations of governing authorities.

Before your expedition

​

Our operation has always revolved around risk management. Even without Covid-19 around there are factors that increase risks in our operation. Just being in the wild is no picnic but it is amazing. We have always operated in environments that present a challenge and we will get our participants safe through their experience. 

​

Potential Course Risks:

• At times, participants will be in close physical proximity to one another and/or instructors.

• There is potential of illnesses during expeditions. Communicable and other infectious diseases such as diarrhea, flu-like or respiratory illness, and other debilitating or life-threatening conditions including COVID-19 and other diseases caused by coronaviruses may occur.

• The remote locations of our expeditions are often away from medical facilities. Communication and transportation can be difficult and evacuations and medical care may be significantly delayed.

• Decisions made by the instructors and other staff will be based on a variety of perceptions and evaluations, which by their nature are imprecise and subject to errors in judgment.

Preparing for your expedition

​

How you conduct yourself before you join your expeditions will be crusial for the your own and the safety of your fellow participants, instructors and others. The SCE might require you to take ceratin precautions before arrival. Please read the following:

Take steps to limit your exposure to coronavirus for 14 days prior to your course:

• Physical distancing

• Frequent hand washing

• Monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms

• We cannot demand this but we do encourage our participants to take a Covid-19 test before they go. If you wish to do so make sure that it is four days before your departure.

 Traveling to your course:

• Wash your hands often 

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth

• Keep at least 1,5 meters distance from others

• Wear a mask when in public

• Carry and use sanitizing wipes to clean surfaces you come in contact with

• Cover coughs and sneezes

• Avoid dine-in restaurants
   

Important Considerations
Do not attempt to travel if you have COVID-19 symptoms (cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell), have in the past 14 days been in close contact with someone suspected or confirmed as having COVID-19, or if you are confirmed or suspected as having COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

During your expedition

​

Upon your arrival and on a daily basis we will make sure that all of our participants feel healthy and up to the tasks at hand. Your field coordinator will be asking questions regarding your health and also taking your temperature. If anyone should start to show symptoms of Covid-19 during the expedition we will separate this person from the group and seek medical advice.

During the expedition due to the conditions around us we will have to be in closer proximity than what is recommended by authorities. During these times we will be taking proper measures to prevent any spread of Covid-19.

• Physical distancing (six feet or two meters) at all times when possible 

• Masks for when physical distancing is not possible (reusable and washable masks will be provided)

• Individual sleeping arrangements

• Hand washing stations in camp

For these measures to be effective, we need commitment and diligence from our participants and staff. Participants who, in our judgement, do not comply with these expectations may be expelled from the course.
